Seed Pod Lamp– Brass, LED and 1/8 Jack Plugs

Nature has some interesting processes that you can draw parallels to everyday behavior. In this piece I was interested in how domed seed pod letting off its seeds created odd and interesting forms. I wanted to mimic that as if turning off or blowing light-bulbs out in a  chain or large room with many light sources. The seeds are formed by hammering the brass and drawing out at the end using a dome raising technique. I added texture to the central piece using a ball hammer to try and give a more random texture that has hints of organic shapes.
